Elizabeth Rogers Decosimo

 

Elizabeth Rogers-Decosimo:

 

Elizabeth Rogers-Decosimo received a Masters of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Art in 1993 after graduating from Western Michigan University.  Rogers-Decosimo is inspired by the direct study of nature and by the work of Classical Greek and Roman artists as well as the Italian Renaissance.   She is also influenced by modern European and American Art.  In addition she has begun studying traditional Chinese and Japanese watercolor.    She had a number of exhibitions while still in New York: Grenning Gallery, Sag Harbor, NY; Century Club, New York, NY; Gallery on 2nd, New York, NY; Gramercy Arts Club, NewYork, NY; and University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.  She has been commissioned in Chattanooga by Allied Arts to create the Art Cats for the First Street Garden,  by Erlanger Medical Hospital to create a portrait of Baroness Erlanger their founder, by Baylor to create a sculpture of Calliope, and by Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church on Lookout Mountain to create a bronze sculpture of the Virgin Mary.
