W. Scott Leach, a Chattanooga native, received a B.S. degree in Art Education from the University of Chattanooga in 1968.  He was recipient of the Gilman Art award for sculpture.  He also has been inducted into the Alpha Society of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  He taught art in the Chattanooga Public Schools until his retirement in 1996.  Among other accomplishments, he established the visual arts program at Chattanooga High Center for the Creative Arts.  The School recently named its new art gallery the Scott Leach Gallery in recognition of his work.  As an artist, Scott has exhibited extensively throughout the Southeast, having won a number of awards for his painting.  His work belongs to numerous private and corporate collections in the United States and England.
