Dear Friends,  

As many of you know, Chattanooga has been home all my life, and I have done my best to enrich my  beloved city through my support of education, the arts, children, animals, and local natural resources.  

My family has been in Chattanooga since the 1800s. Seeing this city thrive over the years and become a jewel of the South has been a great pleasure. Much of this is thanks to the many dedicated citizens of this  community.  

I want to take this time to thank everyone who has contributed to my most special causes:  the Chattanooga Theatre and Youth Centre, Chattanooga Zoo, McKamey Animal Center, and  Chattanooga Ballet.  

I am asking you to help me raise funds for another cause close to home. I am 88 and facing health and  mobility challenges that have rendered me in need of full-time professional caregivers for simple things like feeding, dressing and bathing. It is my wish to remain in my home. It is where I feel comfortable and safe and where I want to live the remaining time of my life.  

The cost of full-time care is more than I had planned and budgeted and I need help. My daughter,  Melanie, suggested setting up a Go Fund Me to help raise the additional funds needed for professional care.  I am doing this after giving it careful thought and weighing all my options. Asking for financial  support for my charities comes easily. Asking for my own need is harder.  

100% of the funds raised will go toward helping cover the cost of my home nursing care. I know your hearts are already open to supporting people, and I would be grateful for any amount you can offer. A link for  gifting is provided.
